Frequently Asked Questions About Your Yacht Charter

Here you'll find answers to the most important questions about booking your yacht with SailClass. We want to make the booking process as simple and transparent as possible for you.

In most cases, a valid sailing license is required to charter a yacht, as it proves you are a competent skipper. Additionally, the charter company may request proof of experience to ensure you have sufficient practical yachting experience.

Please note that in some countries, a radio operator's certificate is also mandatory to operate the onboard radio equipment. We recommend that you inform yourself about the specific requirements of the respective charter area before booking or contact us directly. We'll be happy to assist you!

If you don't have a sailing license, you can book one of our experienced skippers or start your sailing adventure by attending one of our sailing courses.

Please note that your booking is initially a request. Payment is only due after the charter contract has been finalized. Typically, payment is made in two installments, although the exact terms may vary depending on the specific charter company.

Specific charter insurance is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended. Most charter companies require a security deposit (caution). Additionally, you will often be offered the option to purchase a security deposit insurance or other additional insurance to minimize your risk in case of damage.

Regardless, we strongly recommend that the skipper take out skipper's liability insurance to protect against any damage or third-party claims.

It's important to choose reputable providers and carefully review the terms and conditions. Our customer reviews offer valuable insights here. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
